Down: 1) A keyboard is an 'input device' that has a set of electronic keys arranged in rows. A qwerty keyboard has letters of the alphabet on each button, numbers and also some other symbols such as brackets and comma. If you look at a normal keyboard, the first six keys on the top row spells out Q W E R T Y - hence how it got its name.2) Mozilla Firefox is an open-source web browser that has been developed by volunteer programmers. The browser is under constant development. There is also a very lively community of coders providing handy extensions to the browser. These extensions provide extra features.4) A social networking site.5) This is the legal recognition that a creative work belongs to you if you are the 'copyright' owner. This means that anyone wishing to make use of the work for non-personal use will need to get your agreement. 'Creative works' includes almost anything a person can produce for other people e.g. > literature > music > film > software code You have automatic copyright for any works that you create, unlike a trademark which you have to apply for.6) Online means to be connected to a network - either a local network such as a school intranet or the Internet. As opposed to 'Offline' which means not to be connected to a network7) A database / data entry term. All data entry fields have a default maximum size. For example a single line input field often has a 255 character limit, whilst a text box limit may be 65,000 characters. But it is often a good idea to reduce this limit to match the expected size of the data. For example a reasonable character size for an username may be a maximum of 20 characters, or a telephone number perhaps 12-15 characters. The reason being that this makes the database more efficient, as allowing 255 characters for every field when only 10 characters are normal is a waste of storage. Across: 3) Offline means to be not connected to a network. As opposed to 'Online' which means to be connected to a network - either a local network such as a school intranet or the Internet.8) A document is an item that contains information, usually text and / or images. The document may be a physical item such as a book or sheet of paper but a document can also be in electronic form. There are many electronic document formats. Files produced by word processing software such as Microsoft Word are saved as .doc files and are called documents.9) A word to describe "some kind of object that includes technology in order to make it work". For example a Monitor is a 'device' but a wooden doll is not. A microprocessor is also a 'device'.10) This word is used to describe taking data from the clipboard and placing it in a document. You do of course have to have something in the clipboard to begin with, and so you have to 'Copy' data into it. You will often hear the term "Cut and Paste" when you are editing documents. This describes the action of moving data from place in a document to another place within the same document or perhaps into another document altogether. A 'clipboard' is a temporary storage area in RAM for holding data, with the view of moving the data somewhere else. Data can be anything you can select with a mouse such as images and text.
