1) This is a text related term. 'Kerning' means to adjust the gaps between letters that make up a word. Used in Artistic or dramatic affect.

14) This is a type of network arrangement whereby each computer is linked to a central server on a dedicated line. So the arrangement looks a bit like a star with one server in the centre and all the other computers surrounding it with one connection.
16) A 'hierarchy' is where the members of the hierarchy group have a parent-child-sibling relation to each other. If you draw a hierarchy organisation it will be similar to a typical family tree, with perhaps one or two members at the top of the tree and perhaps hundreds lower down the tree all connected by their relationship to one another.
