It also had great weather for farming, and a river running right through it which promoted trading.8) 1. Rome stopped expanding which lead to no new taxes to fund anything. 2. Rome had corrupt leaders who were more interested in money and not public service. 3. The Roman armies were loyal to only their generals, NOT Rome. 4. There was a decline in agriculture because of bad weather, which lead to disease and hunger. 5. There was an over-use of slaves. They mainly used them for farming, which led to new new technology for easier/better farming.9) Romans were polytheistic, and believed in multiple gods.10) Augustus, Julius Caesar's nephew, was the first emperor of Rome, and ruled for 41 years. He started peace in Rome even through all of its current chaos. This was called, the Pax Romana.11) A republic was formed, because all the citizens were upset with all-powerful rulers. So they set up a government where the people had a say.
